Jungkook, a guitarist of the South Korean K-pop group BTS, will appear there at World Cup in Qatar. The idea of holding the sports event in the Gulf state has drawn significant criticism because of Qatar’s position on the issue, which is prohibited there. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old K-Pop vocalist will be one of the performers mostly during football tournaments.
Official Statement From Jungkook’s Agency
The boyband’s official account tweeted the following: “We are happy to announce that Jungkook will perform during the World Cup opening ceremony as part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack. Remain tuned!”
When the tournament begins later this month, the “Butter” hitmaker will perform alongside artists like Craig David, Tinie Tempah, and former “Take That” member Robbie Williams. However, pop star Dua Lipa repeatedly denied rumors that she will be performing and made a vow never to return to the nation there till “all human rights” are guaranteed. She spoke about the market rumors that are circulating, including the widespread belief that Dua Lipa will appear at the inauguration of the World Cup in Qatar.
Dua Lipa Won’t Enter Qatar
Dua Lipa won’t be singing, and neither she nor any of her representatives have ever been in talks to do so. She is hoping to visit Qatar once it has complied with all of the commitments it made when it was awarded the privilege to host the World Cup while supporting England from afar.
At the tournament in Qatar, FIFA has pleaded with the 32 competing teams to “let football take the stage,” but England manager Gareth Southgate says it is “very improbable” that the team will comply with the request.
According to Jungkook, they always have discussed topics they believe should be discussed, especially those they believe have the potential to have an impact. Contrary to a few recent observations, they have discussed this competition, the human rights issues, in the same manner as other countries have. They have made their position on that very clear.
He went on: “Therefore, I believe it would be best if we concentrated mainly on football. This is a football carnival for every player, coach, and spectator traveling to a World Cup. Therefore, when it comes to the LGBT population, we strongly support inclusivity. That, in our opinion, is crucial for all of our fans.”
