A student who screamed “Jai Shri Ram” during the college’s cultural festival was reprimanded and expelled by teachers at the ABES Engineering College in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. On October 20, during the college’s traditional festival and freshman orientation in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a student was reprimanded by assistant professor Mamta Gautam for discreetly saying “Jai Shri Ram” to the crowd.
A video of a lecturer yelling at a student, who was supposedly Mamta Gautam, went viral online, drawing attention to the issue. Gautam chastised the student and questioned, “Why did you raise the slogan of Jai Shri Ram? Do you attend the university for this? This program focuses on culture. This can’t be permitted. Get out, please.”
Later, the student said that his actions were simply a reaction to the audience’s screams of “Jai Shri Ram.”

In the video, the person on stage was greeted with “Jai Shri Ram” by other pupils, and they all reacted in unison. The entire college auditorium then joyfully joined in the chorus of “Jai Shri Ram,” which Mamata Gautam found offensive.
Mamta Gautam took the student off the platform while getting up from her seat. The incident allegedly took place during the campus cultural festival called “Navtarang 2023-24,” according to the trending video. The ceremony was put on by the ABES College of Engineering in Ghaziabad to welcome first-year BTech students.
The recordings infuriated many internet users, who demanded that the teacher be held accountable for severely reprimanding the pupil who addressed the crowd with the statement “Jai Shri Ram.”

The official web page of the ABES College of Engineering states that Dr. Mamata Gautam has 16 years of experience and is a chemistry specialist. She has a PhD and is one of the college’s assistant professors. The Ghaziabad Police took heed of the matter after the video went viral and started an initial inquiry into the incident.
